In July 2009 someone pulled out infront of me on a side street a few miles from our house, I hit the left front fender of their car with just about the center of mine. I was able to scrub off some speed with the brakes but it wasn't quite enough. The insurance adjuster was very co-operative and using thesamba.com I was able to show what the market was for such a car and was offered a fair price. It took a week to round up the parts on craigslist and a technician at a local independant vw shop, and several days in the bodyshop to get it painted up. It's not quite as straight as it used to be, but hey, no more rock chips! The paint matches perfectly... they had to get the supplier to come out and match the paint since it was so old it wasn't in their database.
